Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the VOD – Vehicles On Demand vehicle hire service, operated through Practical Car & Van Rental Enfield at 22 Island Centre Way, Enfield Island Village, Enfield, EN3 6GS. By submitting a hire enquiry or booking, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not proceed with a booking. To hire a vehicle from VOD, you must: • Be aged 21 or over (age restrictions may apply to certain vehicle categories) • Hold a full, valid UK or EU driving licence for a minimum of 12 months • Have no more than 6 penalty points on your licence (certain endorsements may disqualify you) • Not have been convicted of any driving-related criminal offence in the past 5 years • Present your original driving licence at the time of collection — photocopies are not accepted • Provide a valid payment card in your name for the security deposit We reserve the right to decline a hire if eligibility requirements are not met.

All VOD hires are subject to a maximum period of 28 consecutive days. We do not offer long-term rentals, lease agreements, subscription arrangements or contract hire of any kind. Extensions beyond the agreed return date must be requested and confirmed in advance, are subject to vehicle availability, and may not result in a total hire period exceeding 28 days. Unauthorised retention of a vehicle beyond the agreed return date may result in additional charges and legal action.

Submitting an enquiry or booking request does not constitute a confirmed hire agreement. A hire is only confirmed once: • Your identity and licence eligibility have been verified • A hire agreement has been signed • The required deposit has been received We reserve the right to decline any booking at our sole discretion. In such cases, any deposit paid will be refunded in full.

A refundable security deposit is required at the start of each hire. The deposit amount varies by vehicle category and will be confirmed at the time of booking. The deposit will be returned following satisfactory completion of the hire, subject to: • The vehicle being returned in the same condition as collected (fair wear and tear excepted) • No outstanding fuel charges, excess mileage fees or fines • The vehicle being returned on time to our Enfield branch We accept all major debit and credit cards. Cash deposits are not accepted.

All hire vehicles include standard Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Third Party Liability cover as part of the hire rate. The standard excess applicable in the event of an accident or damage is stated in your hire agreement. Optional excess reduction packages are available at an additional daily rate — details are available on our Insurance Cover page. You remain personally liable for: • The stated excess in the event of damage or theft • Any damage not covered by CDW (including roof damage, tyre damage, windscreen damage, and damage caused by negligence or misuse) • Fines, penalties or charges incurred during the hire period • Damage caused whilst driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs

Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than at collection, you will be charged for the shortfall at the prevailing pump rate plus an administration fee. You are responsible for using the correct fuel type. Misfuelling is not covered by insurance and repair costs will be charged in full to the hirer.

Your hire includes a daily or weekly mileage allowance as confirmed in your hire agreement. Any mileage in excess of the agreed allowance will be charged at the excess mileage rate stated in your agreement. Mileage is recorded at collection and return. It is your responsibility to check and confirm the mileage reading at both points.

The vehicle must only be driven by named, authorised drivers listed on the hire agreement. You must not: • Allow any unauthorised person to drive the vehicle • Use the vehicle for hire or reward (including taxi, private hire or courier services) unless specifically agreed in writing • Use the vehicle outside the United Kingdom without prior written consent • Use the vehicle for racing, off-road driving or any illegal purpose • Smoke in the vehicle — a cleaning surcharge will apply if evidence of smoking is found • Transport animals without prior approval — a cleaning surcharge may apply Any breach of these conditions may void your insurance cover and result in full liability for any loss or damage.

You are responsible for inspecting the vehicle at the time of collection. Any pre-existing damage must be noted and agreed on the condition report before you drive away. Failure to report damage at collection may result in you being held liable for it on return. Vehicles must be returned to our Enfield branch at the agreed date and time. Late returns without prior agreement may incur additional daily hire charges. Our team will carry out a joint condition check with you present at the time of return.

In the event of a breakdown, contact our branch immediately on 0203 888 0022. Do not attempt to repair the vehicle yourself or authorise third-party repairs without our consent. In the event of an accident: • Do not admit liability to any third party • Obtain the names, addresses, vehicle registrations and insurance details of all parties involved • Note the details of any witnesses • Report the incident to us as soon as possible and in any event within 24 hours • Obtain a police report if the accident involves injury, theft or a dispute Failure to report an accident may void your insurance cover.

You are responsible for all fines, penalties, congestion charges, toll fees and parking charges incurred during your hire period. Where we receive notification of such charges after your hire has ended, we will pass these on to you along with an administration fee. By entering into a hire agreement you authorise us to provide your details to the relevant authority as required by law.

Cancellation terms will be confirmed at the time of booking. In general: • Cancellations made with more than 48 hours' notice prior to the agreed collection time will receive a full deposit refund • Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice may result in a partial or full forfeiture of the deposit • No-shows without prior notice will result in full forfeiture of the deposit We reserve the right to cancel a booking in exceptional circumstances. In such cases, any deposit paid will be refunded in full.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, VOD and Practical Car & Van Rental Enfield shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential or special loss arising from the hire, including but not limited to loss of earnings, loss of business or travel costs. Our total liability to you in connection with any hire shall not exceed the total hire charges paid by you for that specific hire period. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising in connection with your hire shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. The version in force at the time your hire agreement is signed will apply to your hire. The latest version is always available on this page. These terms were last updated in June 2026.
